Services

In our continued service to industry and society, the UPC GCO personnel has always enjoyed an intense interacction, collaborations and contracts with telecom vendors, operators, installers, user groups and other institutions, local and international. Technology and knowledge transfer creates highly beneficial synergies to our university education, research and society in general.

Courses

 Ad-hoc courses and seminars are delivered to telecom companies and institutions, covering the training needs on optical networking, transmission system dimensioning, photonic technologies, optical fiber cabling techniques and others. They can be delivered at UPC or on-site, and can include theory, practical cases and experimental tests.

Measurements

The GCO laboratories hold advanced state-of-the-art infrastructure and equipment for research, teaching, development and testing  of broadband and optical systems and devices. Pre-certification tests and reports can be performed in reference to diverse International Standards.

Consulting

Professors and researchers of the GCO can deliver external consulting in the wide variety of expertise areas. Consulting works have been done regarding optical fiber technology applications, network dimensioning, external expert in legal and court demands, etc.  Please contact the contact person of the subarea regarding the consulting topic.

Prototypes

State-of-the-art prototypes can be designed and manufactured at GCO premises. GCO offers both the required know-how and equipment in the fiber-optic communications field. A vast range of possibilities, from optical transceivers to optical cross-connects, can be prototyped at GCO.
